Apprenticeships - What will I learn?

So you're interested in our Apprenticeships?  Below is a list of 9 compulsory taught units delivered in our training centre.  Completion of these units leads to an EAL Diploma in Engineering Technology.

Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace

This unit focuses on the essential knowledge required to ensure a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of both Health and Safety Practices and Environmental Management.

Mechanical Principles and Applications

This unit enables the learner to acquire the essential knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering principles including the application of maths and science to engineering problems.

Engineering Quality Control and Measurement Techniques

This unit is intended to give learners sufficient knowledge of Inspection and Quality Control so that they are able to understand quality issues and to use basic equipment and techniques.

Engineering Drawing for Technicians

This unit is designed to give learners the basic knowledge and skills required to complete manual engineering drawings, and to be able to interpret the required information from drawings within an industrial setting.

Computed Aided Drafting (CAD)

This unit encompasses the skills required to initialise, configure and operate an industry standard CAD system to facilitate the production of 2D and 3D engineering drawings and designs.

Computer Numerical Control of Machine Tools (CNC)

This unit enables the learner to acquire the essential knowledge and practical skills required to program, set, and operate CNC machinery typically in use within manufacturing industry.

Engineering Design

This unit enables the learner to acquire the essential knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of the design process.

Advanced Manufacture Techniques

This unit enables the learner to acquire the essential knowledge and understanding of CNC programming and machining

Organisational Efficiency and Improvements

This unit focuses on the essential knowledge required to ensure a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of modern production methods, quality control, business improvement and the rights and responsibilities of those employed within an engineering organisation.

Completion of these units leads to an EAL Diploma in Engineering Technology.
